History of Heritage Dining
A true icon of Singapore’s colonial-era grandeur, Raffles Hotel stands proudly as a timeless landmark.
Tiffin Room opened in 1892 as the hotel’s main dining venue, and it has since been an integral part of the Raffles’ rich history for over 130 years.
Located on the 1st floor of the main building, Tiffin Room faces a serene courtyard adorned with a white colonnade and central fountain.
Where Heritage Meets Modernity
Tiffin Room was meticulously restored as part of the hotel’s extensive two-year refurbishment, which began in 2017.
The interior has been faithfully returned to its early 1900s splendour, featuring beautifully reinstated wooden floors and period furnishings.
Today, beneath lofty ceilings supported by elegant white columns, gleaming iron chandeliers cast a soft, ambient glow.
Lining the decorative shelves that divide the dining space are fine porcelain pieces and brass tiffins.
Tiffins are traditional Indian lunch boxes made of two to four stacked round trays — an iconic form that inspired the restaurant’s name.

The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modern sophistication, capturing the essence of the prestigious Raffles Hotel’s dining room.

At Tiffin Room, guests can enjoy the “Create Your Very Own Tiffin Box” experience.
This signature course, exclusive to the Tiffin Room, allows diners to select their preferred appetiser, main, and dessert — each served in a traditional tiffin.
Take your time to choose your dishes from the menu, and curate a tiffin box that is perfectly tailored to your personal taste.
Journey Through Indian Flavours
An elegant table setting with napkins embroidered with the Traveller’s Palm — the emblem of Raffles Hotel — sets the stage for an unforgettable meal.
The meal begins with a refreshing mango lassi and crispy papadums (thin crackers) to prepare the palate.
For the appetiser, each guest may choose two dishes. One features tender lamb kebabs and tandoori chicken, slow-grilled in the traditional tandoor.
The other features sweet corn patties served with Indian cottage cheese.
And now, the highlight of the meal — a gleaming copper-hued tiffin makes its entrance.
True to its original purpose, the 4-tiered box arrives filled with an array of dishes, heightening the sense of anticipation.
The server unfastens the clasp and carefully arranges the four dishes on the table.
Two types of curry are served: Butter Chicken and Lentil Curry.
The Butter Chicken is particularly outstanding, featuring tender chicken marinated in a secret yoghurt blend and cooked with aromatic spices and creamy coconut milk.
A selection of Naan and Saffron Rice is also included, allowing guests to enjoy the curries with either bread or rice.
To conclude the course, it’s time for something sweet.
Traditional Indian desserts — Mango Kulfi and syrup-soaked Gulab Jamun—are served alongside a comforting cup of Masala Tea.
Indian cuisine served in a 4-tiered tiffin — an elegant lunchbox-style course enjoyed at Raffles’ heritage restaurant, the Tiffin Room.
A one-of-a-kind culinary experience, perfect for a special occasion.
